How’s the pausing going? (last week’s post)
Where have you seen God’s glory in the last week?
For me it was listening to music…eyes closed as I listened to some of my favorites…Josh Garrels, Loud Harp…
A time of peace, a smile on my face, resting in the music’s beauty – made possible by Him. It was awesome, looking for moments of quiet, seconds of prayer squeezed into a day, watching a kid smile, a bird fly…and reflecting on Him.
I also have to admit there were plenty of times I wasn’t so successful. I let busyness get in my way. I took His place as the one in control – or more accurately; I thought I was in control. I steamed and fussed, stressed and worried, got grumpy (or grumpier), judged, compared. Kept slipping up on my desire to abide. Thankfully, God’s grace is enough. So even when I messed it up, I was forgiven…and when I remembered; it brought me back to abiding.
I stopped trying to do better. Instead, I rested in His love…and the times of peace, the presence of His love, became tangible again. Then I’d stumble…He’d remind me I was His, I was forgiven. His grace was sufficient…was, and is…and it’s in Him and His amazing grace I will abide. One day I’ll get it right, but not by my power…but by resting in His.
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. [2 Corinthians 12:9 ESV]
But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace. [Romans 11:6 ESV]
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works. [Titus 2:11-14 ESV]
